Project Description
Pin
Age: 1 year
Arrival at WFFT: 24th July 2015 from a trekking camp in Kanchanaburi
Working History: Trekking
Mother (Apple) and daughter were rescued after a very generous donation by Joan and her friends (again!).We were informed by an elephant camp that mother and baby would soon be separated from each other as the baby was “for sale”, and as the baby “Princess” was only 8 months old, it was unacceptable for Joan and her Sydney group of friends to let this happen. A very generous donation towards the rescue was made and we decided to move both elephants, mother and daughter, to the WFFT elephant refuge. Little Pin will now never know the life of a working elephant, and never be separated from her mother like her siblings.
Temperament: Pin is very protective, Pin is curious about everything
Distinguishing physical features :
- Pin is very tall
- Pin has many pink markings on her ears and trunk
- Still young, so not as sunken head like other elephants at EREC
- Pin- our only baby! Can’t mistake her.
Characteristics: The bond between mother and calf is obvious. They are never more than a few meters away from each other. Pin is slowly becoming more confident, and is walking further way from mum to explore little parts of the enclosure before running back under mums belly
Adopt Pin today: Help us to finance the ongoing care for Pin by making a donation. Adoption donations are safe, secure and tax deductible through Paypal.

Foot Bath For Pun
Earlier this month, our mahout noticed a deep crack in Pun's nail. If left untreated, it can be really painful for her to put weight onto her foot in the future or even lead to a bacterial infection or osteomyelitis.
