Project Description

Nam Fon

Age : 55+
Arrival at WFFT : October 2013 after she was rescued from the same elephant camp from which Duenphen was rescued
Working History : Logging, Trekking
Nam Fon spent years carrying a steady stream of tourists on her back and when she arrived at WFFT she was skinny and malnourished. On arrival at WFFT she received an increase and variation of food and is now looking much healthier. She can look forward to a happy and healthy life at WFFT where she will never have to work another day.
Temperament : Second ranked to See Paek, dominant, very food orientated
Distinguishing physical features :

  • Beautiful, blue eyes
  • Tallest of Newlands herd
  • Very torn ears

Characteristics :
Nam Fon is a friendly and sprightly elephant who can be a little unpredictable on occasion. She is a very curious elephant and will approach volunteers to see what they are up to and if they have food! She likes to go for walks in the forest and forage in the trees. She isn’t too fond of her showers , but loves the fruit too much to leave. She hates cows and cats and will try to move them if they are in her way.
